Dollar General Corporation with general headquarters located at Goodlettsville, TN has selected to open a 9100 square foot discount retail store at the intersection of County Highway Y and State Road in the Village of Hatley. Dollar General started operations in 1939 and last year had a total of over 15,000 stores in 44 states. In the fiscal year 2017 Dollar General had sales of $23.5 billion, ranking them the 123rd largest company in America according to Fortune 500 Magazine. A typical Dollar Store stocks between 10,000 and 12,000 units of merchandise in the store consisting of grocery and hardware items from a variety of suppliers. Normal store hours are 8 a.m to 10 p.m. 7 days a week. With the closing of Hedtke’s IGA and Esker’s Hardware Hank store, retail grocery and hardware availability were greatly reduced. The opening of the Dollar General Store will help fill some of the void left by the closings.
